Welcome

Scoil Mhuire, Davidstown Primary School is a Catholic, co-educational school that caters for all children from Junior Infants to 6th class. In Davidstown we are committed to delivering a quality education to all our pupils by encouraging them to develop and share their own unique gifts and talents in a supportive and stimulating environment.

Our primary school strives to provide a well ordered, caring, happy and secure atmosphere where the intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural needs of the pupils are identified and addressed.

The well-being of children is at the heart of the teaching and learning of the school, to this end the school believes in a holistic approach.

Davidstown Primary School is a Green School, a Health Promoting School, a Digital School but most importantly a Child-Centred School. In Davidstown we offer as many opportunities as we can so that we can see children grow in knowledge and reach their full potential.

Welcome to our website. I hope you enjoy finding out more about us and how we endeavour to cater for the individuality of all of our pupils.

There has been a huge amount of interest in enrolment in our school for September  2020.

If your child may attend our school from years 2020 onward, please register your interest with the school with child’s name and parent contact details.

Contact Margaret on 053 92 34745 or register at http://davidstownps.ie/enrolment/

As your child continues their education from pre-school, you face the very important decision of where to send your child for their primary school years. Scoil Mhuire, Davidstown is a friendly, local option that strives for both the academic and personal development for all our pupils.

The school has begun a transformation with the work and art of our students adorning the walls. There are four bright, modern classrooms, a learning support and resource room, along with a general purpose room and sensory room. There has been huge investment in technology, the science curriculum and the arts in the past year with a view to providing our students with hands-on, progressive and constructivist opportunities to engage with the curriculum. See the Pupil Activities menu above to view the curriculum enrichment programmes taking place in our school.

The grounds of the school have also begun to be transformed with a huge amount of development taking place last year, including the creation of our school fruit and vegetable garden, outdoor classroom, sensory garden trail, willow hut and new yard play markings. Our parents and pupils have more ideas to develop the grounds of the school which will be put into action in the spring.

We invite you to join us.

Huge thank you to everyone who joined us tonight for our Christmas Play and performances. Our girls and boys were just superb and sang their hearts out! They were so confident and thoroughly enjoyed their performance.

So many people to thank. Gayle for leading our ukulele players, Barry for the sound and lights, Claire, Paul, Annette and Sebastian for all their help, Wheelock's for our tree, the Doyle School of Irish Dancing, as well as all the businesses who sponsored a prize.

None of tonight could have happened without the dedication, commitment and enthusiasm of our wonderful team of teachers, SNAs and super secretary, Mag!

We will have our Jingle Mingle in the morning and you are very welcome to join us for a few carols and hot chocolate. We hope to start first thing in the morning. Anyone joining us in the morning can pop into the GP room.

We were very sad to hear today of the passing of Master O’Shea. The Board of Management and Staff of Scoil Mhuire wish to convey our condolences to the family and friends of Master O’Shea. We thank him for his many years of service to the school and community.

Speaking with Master O'Shea always reminded me of this poem.

The village all declared how much he knew;
‘Twas certain he could write, and cipher too;
Lands he could measure, terms and tides presage,
And even the story ran that he could gauge.
In arguing too, the parson owned his skill,
For e’en though vanquished, he could argue still;
While words of learned length and thundering sound
Amazed the gazing rustics ranged around,
And still they gazed, and still the wonder grew
That one small head could carry all he knew.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Reposing at Browne’s Funeral Home, Enniscorthy today (Wednesday) from 2pm until closing prayers at 8pm.

Huge thanks to Elaine for organising the recent Craft Fair which raised €400 for the school! This money will go towards the creation of our Nurture Room.

You all also raised €500 for the school to spend on books! This was raised through our recent book fair and will be used to purchase class novels and lovely new books for our class libraries.

Many thanks to everyone who supported the Craft and Book Fair. It is very much appreciated.
