It is a very exciting time for us here in 5th and 6th class. We will be making our Confirmation soon and are enjoying all the preparation that goes with it. Today we had our retreat in the meeting room in the Parochial House with Sr Elizabeth, Fr Nolan and Ms Connolly. We did team building exercises that focused on using the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit. We laughed, sang, played and prayed together. It was a lovely day which we finished with the sacrament of penance. Very fitting that our First Confession pupils arrived to practice around the same time!
We also spoke about the pledge and what it means. This is a big decision and the pupils have been encouraged to discuss the pledge with their parents. During the Confirmation pupils will not be asked to stand but will be asked to take the pledge in their heart and mind if they have chosen to do so. Certificates and pioneer pins will be organised after the Confirmation, for those who wish to have one.
Many thanks to Sr Elizabeth and Fr Nolan for all their support today.
The class will continue their preparations this week. A text and see-saw message went out to confirm that Sr Antoinette will be speaking with parents about the rite of Confirmation this Friday, the 23rd of March at 7pm, in school in Davidstown. Parents from Courtnacuddy will be joining us for this meeting also.
Confirmation will take place in St David’s Church, Davidstown on Thursday the 12th of April at 11.00 am. Fr Brian Broaders will be the chief celebrant.
